Fantasy films rock today. The effects are so cool. And with writers like Neil Gaiman, you can't go wrong. This is very entertaining fantasy fare - light, humorous, enjoyable.

De Niro steals the show, absolutely steals it with every scene he's in - it reminds me of his performance in Brazil. He knows he has a juicy part and he totally runs with it. Pfeiffer is a hag, then really hot, then slowly returns to haggish next. That's kind of weird. Alsa, for the days of Ladyhawke. Danes is well cast - why she's cute with that huge nose of hers, I'll never know, but she is. O'Toole's part is perfect for him, but short lived. It's a funny flick. Gaiman creates that sense of profound otherworldliness just across the wall. A delightful swordfight in the end. That's a sure way to appeal to me. Give me a decent final fight, and I'm pretty happy with the film.
