I started this expecting Clooney and Tarantino to appear with crossbows in hand, ready to kill vampires.  Am I confusing that vision with another movie?

Dear Cranefly.

I think this is the movie you're confusing it with (John Carpenter's 1998 Vampires).  But blending movies together is nonetheless a good idea on your part, as it means fewer movies you have to remember.
