El Cuerpo en Llamas
I confess that I’m slightly disappointed in my Spanish. This show has no llamas. It’s all about burning bodies.
It begins with a burning car which contains a crisply burnt body. But that’s not the burning body. It’s Ursula Corbero (Tokyo - the hawtest thief in La Casa de Papel). This is her tour de force.
It’s based on a true crime story but I’ve not delved into that for fear of spoiling it. Ursula plays Rosa, a local policia, a single mom with her daughter. But Ursula plays bad girls with a Spanish flair, sizzlingoy seductive, and she has a lot of affairs which are revealed as the investigation unravels them all. Ursula is at her peak performance here, shifting gears from a broken woman to a wicked seductress to a master manipulator to a hopeless romantic to a protective and negligent mom to an earnest lover, all with a stylish cinematographic feel, music that shifts from tense classical to reggaeton, and some steamy sex (especially if your into women in uniform).
Ok, I’m biased. Ursula won me over as Tokyo and this part is clearly written for her. 8 eps, 50 mins, and I just binged the first four.
Not D00M recommended unless you’ve seen Money Heist. And you have not.
Note that the psycho guard from Money Heist plays on of Rosa’s lovers (a key one). The actors rekindle the tense chemistry they had in that show here although it’s a completely different context.
