El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-09-2023 (08-22-2023, 08:05 AM)Drunk Monk Wrote: I confess that I’m slightly disappointed in my Spanish. This show has no llamas. It’s all about burning bodies. It begins with a burning car which contains a crisply burnt body. But that’s not the burning body. It’s Ursula Corbero (Tokyo - the hawtest thief in La Casa de Papel). This is her tour de force. It’s based on a true crime story but I’ve not delved into that for fear of spoiling it. Ursula plays Rosa, a local policia, a single mom with her daughter. But Ursula plays bad girls with a Spanish flair, sizzlingoy seductive, and she has a lot of affairs which are revealed as the investigation unravels them all. Ursula is at her peak performance here, shifting gears from a broken woman to a wicked seductress to a master manipulator to a hopeless romantic to a protective and negligent mom to an earnest lover, all with a stylish cinematographic feel, music that shifts from tense classical to reggaeton, and some steamy sex (especially if your into women in uniform). Ok, I’m biased. Ursula won me over as Tokyo and this part is clearly written for her. 8 eps, 50 mins, and I just binged the first four. Not D00M recommended unless you’ve seen Money Heist. And you have not. Note that the psycho guard from Money Heist plays on of Rosa’s lovers (a key one). The actors rekindle the tense chemistry they had in that show here although it’s a completely different context. RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-10-2023 I’m halfway through the penultimate ep, but I’m going to call it a night because I didn’t sleep well last night due the the skunking and a disturbing nightmare. This still has me in its grip, partly due to that Barcelonan style, partly due to the tense violin driven soundtrack, but mostly Ursula, of course. She’s so spot on with her bad girl portrayal. She’s deliciously manipulative and she’s manipulating me right along with the story, which I’m sure was the showrunner’s intention. A lot of time has passed because two characters got busted and are in jail until the trial, so three years flew by in a few minutes. The show takes great pleasure in its delivery, peeling back the layers of the crime like a stripper. Ursula does a lot of nude scenes but she’s always covered or positioned in a way where we can clearly see she’s totally nude but cannot see any naughty bits. There’s been a lot of full rear nudity of her male lovers, and one full rear shot of one of her male lover’s lover. I guess Spanish cops bang like rabbits. Still only recommended for D00Mers who’ve seen Money Heist. The Rosa/Pedro tension is a fascinating permutation of Tokyo/mint guard tension. I’m curious where this will all go and if the ‘truth’ of the murder will ever be revealed. RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-11-2023 Seen. E7 was the trial. E8 the verdict. There weren’t any major twists. It played out pretty much like it was going. Nevertheless it was well told but totally hinged on Ursula. Glad I watched it but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t an Ursula fan. RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - thatguy - 09-12-2023 who isn't an Ursula fan? --tg RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-12-2023 The rest of the brotherhood has no idea what we're on about with Ursula. No idea at all. Their loss. Ursula is really good in this. It's a total tour de force for her. She's always really good. Did you ever watch Tree of Blood? That's better Ursula action. http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomForum/showthread.php?tid=6561 RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - thatguy - 09-12-2023 de my "For Nairobi" t-shirt yet... ![]() --tg RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-12-2023 So many seasons ago… Berlin! RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - thatguy - 09-12-2023 I'm having this weird issue where I start to type a post and about 2-3 words in, it deletes what I've typed. I usually don't notice until after I hit "post" --tg RE: El Cuerpo en Llamas (Burning Body) - Drunk Monk - 09-12-2023 I’ve noticed that too here. Wth?!?
