I’m worried it’s a diabetic thing. Hopefully my sense of touch will return soon. It’s a numb patch about the size of a quarter.
How is the toe? Neuropathy starts small. There is no going back.

I know. I have neuropathy in my hands. They are constantly tingling. I went through that nerve test where they shock the shit out of you for both hands. That was fun until it wasn't.
Sensation is returning thankfully. I'm seeing an eye on it.

Woo-Hoo! 3:15 alarm form the diabetes puck through the phone about low blood sugar. Quick check showed I was at 54. Which is about ten points lower than when I start to feel really miserable. And yet, I felt fine. The usual indication I am out of whack is that I wake up in a pool of sweat, but not this time. I'm guessing I didn't feel bad because I was fast asleep and didn't need all that much sugar to function.
Although, I did feel fine, I went to the kitchen and grabbed my sugar snack to give the system a little boost. It is become clear why my father had stashes of Hershey nuggets around the house.

I think the diabetes puck is giving me anxiety because now I can check my blood sugar any time of the day. And there are alarms going off all the time to tell me when I'm out of the zone.
All that being said, yesterday was a roller coaster blood sugar day. At one point, I had to fix a hole in the fence (Hey! What are the dogs doing out in the yard!) and my blood sugar for no known reason shot up to 300. But then it dropped right back down. The more concerning one was four hours later after a meal when the number dropped to 55. To recap, I'm supposed to be between 90-130. The big drop happened just as I set off on the trail with the dogs for their walk. I had Aoife who was just bouncing from side to side and I'm having a problem keeping thoughts in my head.
I could find no rhyme or reason for yesterdays swings. It might be time to cut back on the medicine some more.

What the hell is going on with the Diabetes Puck! It set alerts on my iPhone last night eight times that my blood sugar was too low. Did I feel like my blood sugar was too low? No. I even ate an extra breakfast bar before going to be to calm it down. That did not work. And the alarm on the phone when the alert comes in is loud. The Queen was awaken five times from the alarm. Greg, I hear you say, why just not get those alerts? Turn them off? I can't. When sugar gets really low, the app overrides all the blocks and sounds the alarm. I don't get the alarms at the first level of badness when sugar drops below 70. I do get them when sugar drops below 60
After the fourth wake up call, I did a full on blood check to see what that meter said. That meter said 130. Dammit. Fuck you, Diabetes Puck.
I have a note into Little Kaiser to see if I can cut back on some meds.

First question I got back from the Pharmacy Aid I work with on my Diabetes Medication was "Do you sleep on your side where the monitor is located?". Why, yes. Yes, I do. A known bug in the Diabetes puck is that if you sleep on them, they give you false readings.
Dammit!

So you're healthier than you thought. It's a win, albeit an annoying one.
