HWY17
#31
On our internal bulletin board, someone has posted a "Spacious RV" for rent in the Los Gatos hills for $1600/month.

I have no further comment...

I may have to return to fremont for a few years to avoid the renter's tax when we sell that house.

A car flipped southbound early this morning.  Due to the rains, no doubt.  It was early in my commute and that delay choked up the rest of it.

tg - What time do you take hwy17?  Is it clear then?  I'm leaving my bungalow around 6:30 nowadays and it's taking far more than a half hour to get over the hill.

On the bright side, my commute home has been good.

Am I even going to be able to get in there on Thursday. Maybe we should meet halfway at some place like Los Gatos or Jakes?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

tg & I do it almost every working day.  Actually, it's fine outside of commute hours.  Well, it may well be raining, so there's that.  But no way am I coming over the hill on my telecommute day.  That would defeat the purpose of telecommuting.

You in 'Toga yet?

I tend to head out around 8:30-9am. It's always an hour to an hour and 15min to get from Soquel to Cupertino. I take Old San Jose Rd to Summit to 17. I took the bus home on Monday. A tree had come down on 17. It took 2.5 hours to get to Scotts Valley.

Quote:As of 5:42 AM, CHP reports that there is a landslide on northbound CA-17 at W Vine Hill Rd in Scotts Valley. All lanes are closed. Caltrans plans to reopen the roadway by 3:00 PM. Consider using alternate routes.

I was getting all psyched up to return to a regular work week but now, today is a telecommute day. I could start now.
But I'm going back to sleep.

Do you have to wait for Gigi to retire before you get the corporate helicopter?

I don't want no copter. I don't need to change out of my PJs when I telecommute. I imagine PJs would be too drafty for a copter.

tg - how did you manage your commute today? More importantly, have you joined the Cruz secedes movement yet? Now that all the mountain passes have washed out, now is the time. Cruzexit!!!

Well it's open now apparently but I've already texted in to telecommute so my daughter can take my car...and I can stay in my pjs.

Stay dry all!

once again slow enuf 2 post while on 17. Fml.

Crap. Just heard on the radio that 17 is closed. I iz stuck.

Sad

Radio says we will be diverted at bear creek. Might reopen at 6

It's a police activity. Listening to NPR & surfing the web.

It's at redwood estates. I've gone maybe 2 miles since my first post here 35 mins ago

I can hear lots of sirens in the distance.

More vehicles are coming northbound now so I'm hopeful

So someone robbed a bank in Scotts Valley, shot out a cop car window and shot at a passer by. Cops gave chase. Perp abandoned a car in Redwood Estates and vanished into the woods. Cops were afraid he would carjack someone so they shit down the whole area all day.

The detour was crazy - Bear Creek to Skyline - lines of cars and trucks down narrow winding roads in the dark. A 3 1/2 hour commute - a new record for me.

17 is kicking my ass in 2017.
