Next Thursday should be a lot of fun. I can't fly my regular airline which means I get treated like econoclass cattle. I get to switch planes at DM and my favorite airport -- DFW. I get to fly on one of those planes that's so small that your carry-on bags are too big to carry on. And when it's all done, I'll be in Mobile, Alabama.

Next stop: Minnesota. Then Cleveland, then Orlando, then Chicago, then Denver. Hoping to deposit the "bad-luck" demons that have been hanging on me in one of those spots.

Yep, snookered by that Damn Ken Burns. We'll be at Curry Village in the heated(?) tents between Christmas and New Years. Come on by.

But first, Orlando, Chicago, Denver, back to Florida for Thanksgiving. Assuming the cough that won't go away doesn't kill me first.

...but I know
...where I've been.
We got up to Orr Hot Springs last week for a night. It's an off-the-web hot springs near Ukiah. Ukiah also has Vichy, which boasts being the fav spot of Jack London back in the day, but now is a high-end spa with a rather mediocre tub area. Orr, however, is very nice. There are private tubs, clawfoot no less, along with two shallow communals by some nice bamboo, a pool-sized cold plunge that is built into the natural rock, dry sauna and steam bath.
We went earlier this year and it rained. I sat in the communal, which emptied out quickly, and had a minor epiphany. This trip was just a two-day, one night raid, way too short. There's these two clawfoot tubs up high on a deck, one of which I fell asleep in. It's great water at Orr, not too sulphurish or minerally.
But I spent way too much time relaxing. After we got back, I had to spend two days napping to recover.

I'm off to Florida to spend Thanksgiving with mom and step-dad and their friends. It'll a week of football and eating and a fair amount of drinking and listening to old folks talk about their various aches, pains, illnesses, surgeries, etc. Although I'm technically "on vacation" I'm bringing my computer with me; how much work I wind up doing will likely be directly proportional to the amount of time my stepfather has Fox News turned on and I have to politely avoid him. Or I'll just anesthetize with the drinking and sleep a lot; better than arguing.
Sigh. Gonna miss my sickly man and biting girl and itchy boy and stalk-and-pounce kitties.

Look at the bright side; you don't have to worry about lost luggage. I really hate not having my stuff

Well, that's where we were. I don't post where I'm going. I only post where I've been. After NYE, we spent 3 lovely days at Orr where all I had to do was eat, sleep and soak. Best way to start a new year, IMO.

Or not.
Sigh.

June will be an insane month. I've got our tournament, then U2, then SNWMF, then a tournament in Dallas, all within like three weeks. I've already turned down another event in Jersey at the beginning of the month. My Shaolin master may come to our tournament, which ratchets everything up a notch.
