Life is Beautiful - Las Vegas

Welcome back, ED. I applaud your 10cc purchase. You don't need to be defensive about Paul Williams. He did write most of the great pop hits of the 1970s and was in Smokey and the Bandit.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Got a great night's sleep. Nearly 12 hours.

I'm slowly returning to the mundane. When I get up, I can still feel echoing vibration. We'll see how I do in today's telemeet...

And Phantom of the Paradise...

"The Dregs" was the later incarnation of "The Dixie Dregs" featuring guitar virtuoso Steve Morse. I think KB and I may have seen them for free at SJSU in the quad in the early '80's when they were still using "Dixie" in the name.

One of ED's favorite films if memory serves...

I regret not peeking in that record store now. It seemed so unusual and I retired my turntable decades ago. But I should've looked just to look.

Still vibing off LiB. Still in post-show glow. Still grumpy about the whole mundane world thing. Why can't every day be more like LiB?

Eager to hear ED's report of Area 51. I'm sorry I missed that. There was a small display for Meow Wolf at LiB but it wasn't very impressive. I didn't even take any pix of it.

New fan here. She played last night at the Greek and I was sorely tempted but I needed to do some Kung Fu before my qi got too stagnant. Turns out I can't bounce back quickly after a weekend in Vegas working some insane festival...not that I ever had that ability.

A person from High School attended St. Vincent with her friends. She attends almost as many concerts as you, but she's in the audience. I think she sees everything that they put on at the Mountain Winery venue.

St. Vincent and David Byrne were great at Mtn. Winery a few years ago

I also love her signature Music Man guitar

Nice leads, tg. Thanks!

Also on my list of 'how long has this been going on acts'
Death From Above 1979

They're videos don't hold up to their power live.

This came up when I was looking for the above clip…maybe you and your mom saw her on Ellen…

I don't really watch Ellen with my mom. She watches it on the other side of the house and I overhear it because she has the volume all the way up. She generally mutes music acts or anyone that I might want to listen to being interviewed. I'm usually writing in the other room.

But that is a considerably different visual than what she's doing now. The sound is similar. I prefer her LiB persona. Clearly I have a lot of catching up to do with her. Probably the same is true for Death From Above.

Here's a taste of LSDreams. This video hardly captures what it's like in an EDM dancehall. If I see them on a bill again, I'll endeavor to make it.

Sorry for the late response but social media is not my forte.

Face-to-Face is my game as DM will attest. I followed him to the bathroom at L.i.B. I didn't go in because Security was already suspicious that I walked into a restricted area with no escort.

First off - Nacho Daddy is the bomb. They give you like 2 pounds of gourmet nachos (I had the Thai nachos with veggie chicken and peanut-curry sauce). I weigh 230 and could not finish mine. DM is still thin as a rail and cleaned his plate.

Secondly, we stayed a day later and hit Area 15 on Monday.

That place is a trip. Check out this video for a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhcNX-GWf2w

The Lost Spirits distillery is there. We took the tour for $60 (reservations required) but you get 5 shots of premium rum and brandy in themed rooms and vintage-themed shuttles to the facility. Well worth it. DOOM road trip worth it.

Thanks for the feedback on my vinyl purchases. I do have to say the Dave Davies record is one of the worst albums I have ever listened to. This from someone who loves The Kinks.

Anyway, this was our 6th L.i.B. and we will keep going till we die. We don't give a crap about the music, but the environment is like nothing else. My concern is that it's getting too big and attracting the wrong (Coachella) crowd looking for that high-energy vibe where this is used to be a mellow love-fest. It didn't help that Green Day was the biggest headliner (they were great BTW),.

Anyway, our first outing in 18 months and it was glorious.

Hooking up with DM was the unexpected cherry on the sundae.

I was going to say 'extra sour cream dollop on the nacho chip' but cherry sounds sweeter.

LiB 2022 SEP16-18. The RM director has already told me to save the date.

That's cool.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Most of all, I'm looking forward to sharing a few more meals with ED&Ms.ED...

ED lives! He just called me about LiB. The Ds are headed there again this year (it’s two weeks away) and wanted to know if I’ll be there.

Well, I dunno. It was likely at OSL, so much so that I was hoping to make the crew and to bring Tara (I volunteered to pay her way because she’s not at the level with RM) but I heard from my director last night that ticket sales are down so our traveling crew is being whittled down too. Without a cert, I’m one of the more expendable. My director said he’d try to sort it, but we shall see.

Fingers crossed.
