Thanks, Cranefly. I buy Royalty Free music to use in the movies. I think it was only towards the very end the actors finally felt a bit more comfortable. But yes, a little stiff.

... I thought that part worked well.
How did you do the intro? The CGI landscape thing?
It's all about 'learning experiences'. And to think, some people pay for schoolin'

That would be made by Michael Schmitt, a friend of Ken's. Those are the shots that I'm waiting on before I kick this thing to the curb. Hopefully by next week. The moon shot is mine. It just has a touch of compositing.

The Jing Ying Institute in Arnold will host a colorful martial arts lesson on Saturday, in case you need some tips on battling a zombie invasion.
"Instead of trying to settle the age old argument about whether slow zombies or fast zombies are the scariest, we will give you the tools you need to defend against both," according to a release from the institute. "Use the controlled movement, mental concentration and redirection skills of tai-chi with slow zombies. Use the power, agility, fluidity and footwork of northern Shaolin Kung Fu against fast zombies."
The workshop will also feature a zombie make-up session.
Participants will learn the basics for how to prepare for the apocalypse, how to avoid zombie encounters, and the best way to take out a zombie while minimizing the risk to yourself, the release states.
Of course, the self-defense lessons taught won't only be applicable to zombie encounters.
"You will get good information that will help you prepare for most disaster/emergency situations and you will learn practical self-defense techniques that are effective against any attacker, not just zombies," according to the release.
Participants are told to wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring a water bottle.
What: Zombie Self-Defense Workshop
When: 4-5 p.m. Saturday
Where: Jing Ying Institute, 1195 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, Arnold, MD 21012.

The Kyle I like bumped into the Kyle I don't. They talked about the lawsuit.
then the Kyle I don't like send me a text and an email and he called producing partner Sal.
Kyle I don't like Wrote:I've heard some very good things about the footage you've put together for the Shaolin project. People used "good-looking", "great", and other superlatives. I could not be happier to hear these things, a few good shots and scenes is exactly what I was hoping to receive.
As we are near the nine-month mark since shooting, I am still eager to have my footage. As a fellow creative person I would urge you to not be too hard on yourself, on the project, and on it's imagined shortcomings, that it is never even released to the actors so they can use the footage they shot.
I would again like to request usable quality footage of either 1) rough cut, 2) final cut, or 3) raw footage of all the shots and scenes I was involved in.
Is this possible?
On the flip side, FX scenes are very very close.

I'm burning Blu-Rays and DVDs. I've uploaded the screener so I can send it to competitions. I've given Sal his copy. He wants to cut his own trailer for it.

OK - here is my critique.
First - Greg gave me a 1st edition copy of "The Killing Joke" and an actual prop from "Iron Man". He is the object of my bromance.
The initial zombie-attack bits were poor, mainly because of crappy actors and lack of Tom Savini makeup. I liked the girl and the guy
The DVD instructional section was one of the best I have ever seen. It was beautifully set, wonderfully performed (even the mean servant guy was fantastic) and had clear narration. The only thing I did not like was the cuts from from side view (three guys) to front view (one guy). That broke continuity and created a distraction.
The sound was rough, but the main issue was the strikes being louder than the music. Action scenes should be filled with electric guitar and hits should not overpower the sound.
I liked that the three guys were not perfectly in sync. This is not Icecapades it's fucking Kung-Fu. It made it seem so much more real. The movement and expression on the performers were mesmerizing.
The zombie scenes were marred by the restrictions placed on the zombies. I never felt they were really expecting to catch their prey.
Good zombie scenes are marked by the zombies being allowed to try as hard and fast as they can to get their victims. You need to create environments where the strongest, fastest zombie cannot get the victim in the mind of the audience.
50's sci-fi movies suffered from this and became laugh-fests. The best example I can think of is the initial attack from "Night of the Living Dead". The zombie pounds on the car glass, then picks up a rock and smashes the glass. He comes so close it's terrifying. The momentum of the car getting away on gravity alone really sets the tone for the rest of the film.
As a Kung-Fu instructional DVD: 10 out of 10
As a zombie flick: 5 out of 10
Greg - I love you man, don't beat me with your testicles for this review.

There's been great discussion over this in some private fb groups. I'm going to share this tiny bit for Greg's edification.
Quote:Sal Redner is now a convicted felon for felony domestic abuse with great bodily injury for his assault on Tuyet SilverSnow Vong. He will have a long parole with many conditions. If he fails to fulfill the conditions of his parole, or breaks more laws, he will immediately go to jail for 7 years. He is currently in jail, but the jail is so full, he will be out soon.
He will be released tomorrow - Halloween.
