Sadly, he only had a few good years of making music, then it was more about drugs. (Sort of like Marvin Gaye.) His Greatest Hits album (Did we all have that one?) came out in 1970. Then the Family Stone drifted away and no one wanted to book him for shows because he was so erratic. Miles Davis wanted to work with him - Davis said he "almost wore out those first two or three records" and listened to Sly a lot during the Bitches Brew sessions - but when he went to see Sly, there were guns and coke everywhere, so he didn't stay.

Yes, some great music, but sadly too many drugs.
