Well, that was quite enjoyable. I thought it started off clunky as the Directors try to set up the boundaries for the world. There were a lot of info dumps but there wasn't anyway to get around them. But once everything is kind of in place, about the time Evelyn meets the real villain in the hallway for a fight, the film goes off the rails in a great way. There are so many images that are etched in my brain. I don't think this film will be half as good on the TV because you need to be overwhelmed by the tsunami of images the film throws at you and I don't think you can get that at home.
It must have been a very hard film technologically to make. The amount of throwaway shots must have been astounding, blips of universes we saw for only seconds. I think Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu had harder acting jobs than MY just because of their constantly switching characters. But Michelle Yeah still had a lot to do. As did Jamie Lee Curtis. They all look liked they were having a great time. I'm probably mistaken but did Brad Pitt play one of the chefs in the Benihana restaurant scene?
So much absurdity in this film. So much surrealism in this film. So much sex play!
It was bit confusing as they kept bouncing back and forth between the first two universes. I also go it in my mind that one of the characters had committed suicide and this was Evelyn's way of dealing with it. But that take turned out to be wrong.
I thought the end was particularly effective. All the fights were very well done.
Really have to pick and choose who you recommend this film to.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
