Omega Rising Women of Rastafari (1988)
#1
A tight documentary of Rasta women. Mostly interviews with a wide range of Rasta queens, with some heavy insights on what the act of dreading meant in Jamaican society back then, as well as a solid description of the Rastafarian movement. Judy Mowatt is the only notable celeb, which is fine by me because I’m a huge fan. One of the greatest reggae moments I’ve experienced was Judy in a hall in GGP where she threw down the hardest One Cup of Coffee ever, and it was just the 3rd song of her set. Love her. An intelligent look at Rasta women - respect!
