Chloe Grace Moretz is a teen runaway. Her mom is a drunkard Juliette Lewis and her dad, an unrecognizable Anson Mount (ST:SNW) isalso a drunk. She gets a smith & Wesson 45 for her birthday and sets out to hitchhike to Vegas. She gets picked up by a cowboy with a limp (Eddie Redmayne) who gets too creepy so she ditches him for a coke head floozy (Blake Lively). They do some blow and rob a gas station. Then they meet Blake’s rich psycho husband who has hired psycho Eddie. Things go downhill from there, so bad that it’s Alec Baldwin to the rescue.
It’s got a great cast and soundtrack by Bob Dylan, but it’s very uneven and makes some leaps in tone and plot that are irreconcilable. Everyone delivers good out of character performances (except for Alec who has only one note). Chloe is hawt which is creepy of me to confess because she was only 15 when she made this. There’s some good performances but the film fails to come together.
Not D00M recommended. I put this in my queue after watching The Peripheral.
