Judas and The Black Messiah (2021)

The story of the FBI's infiltration of the Chicago Black Panther movement in 1969 which eventually led to the assassination of Fred Hampton.

This movie makes the case (again) that white people are bad, especially white people in power. If what they say is true, the whites did some really heinous stuff.

The movie charts about the last year of Hampton's life. He is already a powerful political figure giving speeches that make the white establishment uncomfortable. He comes to the attention of J. Edgar Hoover who wants to know if someone won't rid him of this troublesome priest. Hoover is played by Martin Sheen which sets off this odd dissonance since he played Jeb Bartlett as well.

The FBI finds a car thief, Bill O'Neill and blackmail him into going undercover into the Chicago Chapter of the Black Panther Organization. The FBI pushes him to more and more diabolical acts until finally O'Neill helps with assassination of Hampton.

It was a good look at a dark chapter in our nations history that I was unfamiliar with. It was uncomfortable to watch at times. But I'm happy to know that we've turned a corner in our nation and such despicable acts no longer occur in our land of racial harmony.

Another reason why I'm bad: I had to turn on the subtitles. When people were speaking, I was only picking up about 1 word in four. I don't know if it was the accent, especially with Fred Hampton or if the recording was set up improperly, but I just wasn't getting it. So. I turned on the subtitles, which really helped.
