Sonic Vision trailer

Remember when the ultimate stoner diversion was the Pink Floyd show at Laserium? Laser-beam Pegasus would gallop across the night sky as stars projected by the planetarium sparkled in the distance.

Well crudely animated laser art has met it's match. CGI.

Basically Sonic Vision is an hour-long abstract art video shown on an iMax-style screen. Badly-edited 90-second segments of modern pop songs accompany the morphing, swirling tapestry of shiny globules. Music picked and mixed by Earth's own resident spaceman, Moby.

There is lots of rushing through tunnels of light and racing around imposssible geometric structures. The experience is very similar to perusing a Salvador Dali book while watching Tron and listening to college radio on LSD.

As a value-added bonus your $8 ticket will get you into the Chabot Space Museum. All the exhibits were open even though it was after 8PM. the glowing globe that changed into any planet in the solar system was worth $8 alone.

The 2-minute music edits bugged me, especially Bowie's "Heroes" and the Flaming Lips "Do You Realize", but all in all it was a good show.
