Old man and a gun
#1
The Queen's friend Bob, stars in this film about an aging trio of bank robbers who are cutting a swath through banks all across the United States, going mostly unconnected until detective ties all the robberies together.

You know how a lot of older actors decry the state of movies? It's all explosions and noise and fast cuts? How they long for movies like they were made in the 1970s when it was all about the actors and compelling stories? Well, that's what this film attempts to recapture. Scenes go on for much too long so the actors can sit in a booth in a diner and share stories with each other. Or a family can sit around the dining room table and talk about their day. The film is all washed out and gritty. Framing is always unique and from far away as if the audience gets a chance to eavesdrop on these encounters. And they just let the film unfold at a glacially slow pace.

It has a great cast to support Bob, which I think has a lot do with Bob, himself. Bob's helpers are Tom Waits and Danny Glover (Who I kept waiting to hear him say, he was too old for this shit) Casey Affleck is the detective on his trail. Keith Carradine is the blink and you'll miss it boss. Sissy Spacek plays the love interest. Elisabeth Moss plays his daughter (She also gives up the clue to Bob's identity that I'm still puzzled about).

So, if you like movies with people sitting around tables talking, this is the movie for you.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
