This was supposed to be the "This Girl is Badass" review but once again I was let down by Netflix and their abhorrence of subtitles.
Supposedly this movie was based on the story of a writer finding an ad in the help wanted section of the paper. The person posting the ad was looking for somebody to help him on a time travel trip where the safety was not guaranteed. Enter our small tiny slip of a film.
It was very hipster-esque. It had the sensibility of 'Gardent State'. A very small film but quite enjoyable. The movie relied on dialogue and acting rather than special effects. And the movie was all about time. One couple was going back in time to change their lives. One couple was trying to reconnect after many years apart. And finally there was the young man seizing the future by acting today.
The other charming part about the film was the clueless nature of the hero and heroine. The hero was teaching the heroine all sorts of survival skills for when they journey into the past. But the hero had no conception of what martial arts should be except for what he'd seen. And the heroine believes everything the hero shows her because he is the expert.
I say watch it.
