Two small-time crooks run afoul of their boss, who is out to kill them. We're supposed to root for them throughout, but they're unethical, unlikeable, and downright smarmy. They hide out in this beautiful widow's home, and it is a very unpleasant ordeal watching them take turns hitting on her. When one crook calls the other a "whoring son of a flirtatious mother," things come to a head.
The movie does have some cleverness hidden within it, which it took me a day to grok and appreciate. But by no means does it redeem this ramshackle mess of a soulless tale.
Though there are no Bollywood dance numbers, there is one exceptional song when the widow sings privately to her dead husband in a weird ululating fashion that is by turns passionate, haunting, and otherworldly. Unfortunately, 3 minutes into her song, one of the small-time crooks tries to sneak up on her and breaks a vase, interrupting her -- the whoring son of a flirtatious mother. Grrr. The movie would have been better served letting that song go on for 20 minutes.
