Eddie Izzard 12/8/12 Steve Allen Theater
#1
Eddie Izzard is practicing for his upcoming World Tour 'Force Majeur' at a local theater. He announced the dates via twitter and I think only via twitter. And for a change rather than seeing this note and moving on, I thought it might be fun. It was a really small venue and it was only 20bucks. The Queen concurred, using a bank gift card to pay for the night out.

Yes, the Queen and I spent Saturday night out with the hipsters in their skinny jeans and hoodies. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto of Star Trek fame were in attendance. I probably wouldn't have picked up on Chris Pine, in his hoody, if he wasn't sitting with Quinto. They had the only taped off seats in the 150 seat house. He's also very tiny.

So, the show. It was funny. Izzard wasn't in drag, which is the case these days, coming out in a sports coat and slacks. Although he did have his fingernails painted and at one point had to remove a bracelet because it kept hitting his microphone. But it's hard to encapsulate what his show was about because he's very stream of consciousness. He started out riffing on the Tea Party (Odd, that the Tea Party would name themselves after the most insane part of Alice in Wonderland) and calling them out as fascists. Then he went on about Human Sacrifices which he kept coming back to until the show ended. He brought up the fact that you don't see ghosts of Dinosaurs.

But he would jump around like a gadfly from subject to subject. Bits on Marathons, Germans, the French, the monarchy, Religion. It was quite eclectic and funny. Lots of holding your side funny. When I watch him on DVD, it tends to get annoying but seeing him live made it all better.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
