George Harrion: Living in the Material World
#1
It's the documentary about the Quiet Beatle done by Martin Scorcese. It is over three hours long and at the end I don't think I really learned anything new. Maybe a few new insights.

I was really shocked when I thought they were going to skip the Beatle years in the documentary. They started with some scenes of his life in Liverpool and starting the band. Then they showed Harrison signing the Beatle divorce papers at Apple Studios. I thought it was a bold move to skip that part and focus on his later life. Then the film cut back to Hamburg and their time.

Some of the parts were too exhaustive. Some too cursory. For instance the Patty - Eric- George story is glossed over pretty quick. I felt like they knew they had to talk about it so they gave it the most minimal focus possible.

His later life is also kind of cursory. It's like the did what they wanted by covering the Beatle years and now were just going to wrap everything. They gave a minute to the Traveling Wilburies. They showed Dhani. They gave a little longer to the attack in his home. I guess I wanted them to focus on things they didn't want to talk about.

It was long. It was kind of entertaining. I'm glad I see it. But I could have probably lived without it.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
