It was our 12th anniversary recently, and you know what the gift for that is.
Air.
So Lady Cranefly and I decided to take a ride in a red triplane.
The front seat was cozy and, well, Spartan as a padded cell. The pilot sat in back with a few more options. Sonoma is pretty this time of year. When the pilot asked where we wanted to go, I suggested Europe. He took us as far as the Pacific -- a fair compromise. With coordinated leaning we found we could make the triplane tilt sharply. When I asked to see the ground, the pilot obliged -- though it cost us the top wing. We still managed to land safely. Here we are afterwards with the triplane (the top wing is lying out of frame in the field to the right). Though we appreciated the stylish parachutes, we couldn't have unfastened our incomprehensible seatbelts to use them.
