Resident Evil: Afterlife (3D iMAX)

This movie is awesome.

It's like someone took 'The Matrix', pumped it full of zombie steroids, decided the laws of physics were too strict and continuity is for losers.

Just sit back and enjoy it.

I'm a huge fan of Milla Javovich having met her many years ago when she was an aspiring singer/songwriter. Her album is still on heavy rotation on my iPod. If someone had told me that the 17 year old waif that I was talking to at The Great American Music Hall was going to be a kick-ass action movie star I would have laughed in their face. Who knew?

Milla (and her CGI and/or stunt-double) defy gravity in some very creative ways. Lots of slow-motion and bullet-time FX. The 3D is done really well, presenting more wide angle scene composition than the mostly irritating 'yo-yo in your face' stuff. The music is crunchy hard-techno but works pretty well with the MTV\comic book costumes and set design.

Well worth the $15 iMAX ticket price.

Never in a million years would I have expected a glowing review for this film.

Dee Dee and I both loved it. But I flat out said 'people or going to love it or hate it'.

It's a non-stop, ultra-violent thrill ride with zero plot or character development.

I like the 'bad' reviews at rottentomatoes.com:

"Yes, the 3D is immersive... but there’s nothing to be immersed in here but the blood, bullets, and globs of brainmatter flying around."

"While the movie itself is no great shakes, the 3D is awesomely fun. "
