Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser

I loved Fast Food Nation, so this caught my eye in DFX where my flight was delayed. It's three essays from the Atlantic expanded and tied together with this central American Freedom theme. First one is on pot, obviously, and it's mostly an account of absurd federal cases where people have been put in the slammer for life for a joint. Second is about illegal immigrants and how nasty the strawberry industry is in CA. That was actually the best section. Third was about some dude who invented the porn industry, not Larry Flynt, but I would have rather watched Flynt vs. USA or whatever it was and would have probably got the same message. All in all, a very disappointing read. The research was good and it was well written but it didn't hang together as a book. You can't just stick old articles together and make a book out of that.

Oh wait. That's what DM's Albatross is. Crap.
