What the hell did I just watch? The first bit in the trailer above is the start of episode 1. In the next scene, the landlord (the bald guy) is jerking off in his room while cussing at the cat girl.
This anime is about Yani Neko, a chainsmoking cat girl just like the title implies. It’s a world of humans and beastfolk but there are only cats so far. Yani is a train wreck - hopelessly addicted to cigs and living in squalor. Her neighbor catgirl is a drug addict, introducing her to pot and shoots up in a scene. And that’s just the tip. This anime is insane, depicting addiction with a goofy sexy gross style that delivers shocking scenes - like who-the-hell-thought-this-up scenes. There’s rainbow vomit. There’s toilet humor and several toilet scenes. I confess I lol-ed when the landlord was struck by rainbow barf.
Not D00M recommended and hell yeah, DM’s gotta watch more. If a particularly insane ep appears, perhaps I’ll D00M recommend that one. But so far (and I’m only 2 eps deep because that’s all that’s available now) I’ve barely seen enough to get a handle on this. I’ll let you know.

This show is so fucked up. E3 opened with Yani titillating some boys by jiggling in all the places while playing soccer in slo-mo. Then there’s more landlord masturbation with a sex doll. Then a lot of farting.
I can’t stop watching this.

Still not sure if I like this anime. It’s so wrong. The beast folk cat gals are titillating and cause men to literally schwing (didn’t realize that was in the anime vocab).
When I was in line for Tea with Toph, I befriended another anime fan and we had a great chat. We were both dumbstruck by this tho.
I brought it up at Iaido tonight and said it was rather prurient but not hentai, and then e4 has Yani modeling for hentai artist in a kogal skirt. I wanted to get their opinion because several of my iai-mates know their anime.
It’s addictive. Like cigs.

E5 was strangely tame. Yani and 2 friends visit a beast folk cult that cultivates tobacco. I’ve resolved my conflict about the show by viewing the beast folk as a metaphor of an oppressed minority race. Thru that lens, it speaks to racism well and the addiction is more of a symptom of a larger issue.
I think there’s only one ep left in this season.
