Happy Friday! I’ve got a full day of work and errands. Gotta tie up several loose items so I can enjoy the weekend without being bothered by work.

Heading into town before the snow storm dumps 12" on the town. I'm not putting on chains for anyone.

Is galentines for guys palentines? I just made that up.

Stacy & I swapped booze gifts: Rama can for her & redbreast for me. Plus I gifted roses like I always do. We both have classes - yoga for her & Kung Fu for me. Then she has some clients.

I got my tasks to a decent place and turned off my Mac for the weekend but I thought of how to resolve the conclusion to a YMAA article thst i was working on so I might just turn it back on and finish it. Or not.

I got Christina a ceramic chicken for the garden that she had been wanting. She didn't give me a gift; I don't think of Valentine's day as a gift receiving occasion for me - she does all the cooking and the laundry and more, so I pretty much get a gift every day. Then we went to the Cantor Museum at Stanford and to San Mateo to the art supply store where I had a gift certificate. Got large some paper to do some bigger collages.

TCM showed Valentine's movies that were Oscar winners, we caught the ballet at the end of American in Paris and then watched all of Moulin Rouge. Hadn't seen that in a while. It's still great. Now I want to rewatch his Romeo and Juliet.

Today I cleaned out one of my drawers because I couldn't find the lead container for my mechanical pencil. That drawer was always a mess and has bothered me for years. Now it's all tidy. Went to Rasputin and poked around the sale rack. Got the My Morning Jacket album I had been looking and found a couple of other things I wanted, but didn't have the cash.

Strict and unbending "No Hallmark Holidays" rule.

Yesterday was Stacy’s birthday so we visited Tara, strolled through GGP in the rain, had lunch at Masala Dosa, and drinks & scrabble at Shamrock’s (I won) then back home.

Today we had planned to go to Orr but the storm made us cancel. I had taken the day off so now we’re housecleaning for lunar new year tomorrow and I hope to get a little writing in.

My fridge died (my mom's fridge...it might have still been installed when they remodeled the kitchen 40 years ago). i ordered a new one thru Costco over a week ago, but it wasn't delivered until today. It was on sale and the Costco elves delivered and and took the old one away for no extra fee.

Happy President's Day to all who celebrate!

Metaphors...

My mom’s fridge is still going at 50+ years. Stacy bought a new one for the remodel but I do want to keep that old one until it dies…

To update - i re-secured the tarps over our laundry machines and threw a dead rat in the trash today. And I’m gonna start writing any minute now… maybe after I shower (cant bathe tomorrow - lunar new year stupidstition).

Xin nian kuai le!

Got two meetings and work to do, then over the hill, hopefully dodging the storm to check in on mom like I do, then over to see a movie for Chinese New Year.

Now I’m watching the news to see if there was any gunplay and car chases in KB’s hood.

I got to head to TC to finally pick up some KFTC print mag - only 2 months late. Then back to the cruise then work then yoga.

Oh dang, what’s the weather going to be like? It was scurrying under thunder and wet drivers (never good here). Saw one car bump a toner at a stoplight - too late with the brakes - but it was just a tiny tap so they both just drove on without even checking.

On Thursdays the shop is closed. It’s an artifact from a years ago work schedule. I keep it this way to get a midweek sleep-in day (7 whole hours today! Bonanza!). I do end up going into the shop on Thursdays pretty often, though, as there is always something to do. In this case, I get to go receive a shipment and send out backorders.
