The Old Guard 2. July 2.

This trailer isn't selling it. Yes, I hate fun.

Okay. I watched about the first thirty minutes or so of The Old Guard 2. I don't think I can finish. What a morose group of people. I think what they are actually guarding against is levity or having any sort of fun. It's all dour and serious. And the fights are terrible. One punch. One cut. No flow anywhere.

I might revisit when the Queen departs.

Oh yeah, I watched that the other day. At some point, I was doing things on my phone and just listening to it in the background. Charlize and Uma do get into a melee...

I wanted the fights to be better. So much attack...pause...attack...pause. If they were fluid, they could have been pretty cool.

I can't reconcile this part of the story: they have a "librarian-esque" immortal that collects all the stories about their escapades thru history. There's a whole plot-point around the first/last immortal and their powers. But it's only speculative, based on the hearsay of mortals... So, how do these mortals know this stuff when the immortals don't?

meh...

(is it me, or does Charlize look younger?)

Saddened to hear the sequel ain't up to snuff. I'm still going to watch it eventually, mostly for Veronica...even more so than Charlize, believe it or not.

I got about half way through and then dozed off. I see what you're saying - it's just weirdly flat despite a good cast and some nice locations. The fights have an interactive dialog but they are shot awkwardly, probably to hide a multitude of sloppiness. Although I was amused that Charlize brought a sword to a gunfight. Uma looks tired. I haven't got to their fight. The jury is out about Veronica. She's reminding me of Jackie's early ventures into Hollywood - landing these opportune roles but then their a mere shadow of what she's done in Vietnam.

I'll likely finish it later, just for completionist sake.

If you just watch this from the nuclear power plant siege, it’s ok. Can’t shoot in the plant (but you can blow things up weirdly) which provides a good excuse for sword, axe & knife fights. It’s not bad choreo. It has some moments, particularly with some stabbing effects. It’s not outstanding choreo either.

Ultimately Uma is hardly in this. And the end sets up the threequel - and awkwardly it’s potentially exactly what I’m hoping to see from this franchise.

While disappointing overall the last half is D00M recommendable.
