Inside Man (2022)
#1
Inside Man has the most absurd premise. Stanley Tucci is a Death Rom inmate ready to die. He's a former professor of forensics. While he's waiting to die, he helps solves crimes like you. He has fellow death row prison who has an eidetic memory listen in to the conversations as a sort of human dictation machine. And he only solves crimes that have moral worth. Totally perfectly normal. That's how most crimes are solved.

And yet, it's kind of watchable. The other parts of the puzzle is David Tennant playing a vicar in a small English Town. There is a reporter trying to do a story that bridges the two worlds. Tucci is in prison in the US just to add to the complexity. And overseeing it all is Stephen Moffat who did Sherlock Holmes on BBC and several seasons of Dr. Who.

My logic brain wants to jettison this show. But my visceral part wants to know how this stupid crime gets resolved. It's a four episode series. I watched this on the way to watching Blockbuster.

Ep02 Things get worse for David Tenant and the only way out for him is terrible. You can kind of think of this show as Sherlock in jail with Watson played by a serial killer who once made a towel rack out of someone's ribcage. Of course prison Sherlock is named Grieff, played by Stanley Tucci. And as absurd as the premise is, it's very watchable. There are all these terrible situations, personal situations, that I need to see if they can resolve. And how they resolve them. Every situation is no win.

We plowed through the last two episodes. Still implausible. Still watchable. It wraps up after four episodes but the door is kind of open for more adventures of Mr. Grieff. But the David Tenant part is done. There are some really tense moments in the film that are also squirm worthy plus some really good twists. It's a like a really lurid edition of Masterpiece Theater.
