2021-2022 TV Season
#1
This idea for a thread is becoming dated. That being said The Rookie started it's 4th Season on Sunday. Boy, was it horrible.

At the end of the last season, one of the cops was kidnapped by the female head of a South American Drug Cartel. The Drug Cartel lady had been in a couple of episodes already. The kidnapping was payback.

In the season premiere, the gang has to get her back. Yep, our just barely police officers are going to go down to South America and raid an armed compound of a drug cartel. That all seems plausible. Also the Drug Cartel Lady has also kidnapped the lady cop because the lady cop is pregnant and the Drug Cartel Lady wants the baby because her son was recently killed in a shootout.

As the Queen pointed out, she's seen better written telenovelas.

Hey now.

Telanovelas rock. They have no compunctions about absurdity. It gives the writers free license to be gratuitously sexy.

Naomi (2022) CW

Ava Duvarnay produces the story of a teenage girl named Naomi. Naomi is a Superman Super-Fan. She runs ones of the most popular Superman sites on the internet. Naomi loves Superman because they are both orphans. Things get even crazier when there is a sighting of Superman downtown. Unfortunately, Naomi feints before she can witness the event. As the episode wear on, she interviews people about the event and comes across some weird inconsistencies about the stories. She is also having weird episodes herself.

It was a struggle to get through this cutesy show. The acting is bad. The dialogue is bad. The story is bad. It's bad. You don't even have the CW hot teen factor to help you along the way. (To be clear the hot teens are clearly twenty somethings playing teens) It was a mistake to watch.

Now, in all fairness, to quote the Cub, this show might not be meant for me.

It's CW. It's not for any of us here. Nope. None of us.

This reminds me that Season 2 of CW's Kung Fu is dropping on March 9. Oh the pain...the pain...

The Thing About Pam

Renee Zellweger in a fat suit! Watch her act her ass off! This TV show on NBC is based on a true crime podcast. At least that's what it says. I think they were going for a Fargo vibe. There is a constant Voice Over narration that tries to be clever. And there is squinty in a fat suit.

Betsy has been murdered. The cops all believe Russ the husband did it. The story goes back in forth in time recounting the events leading up to the murder and then what happens after the murder. In the center is Pam who is less than truthful about the events. Seriously, all clues point to the fact that she did it. But it's a series, not a movie, so I'm not going to know in the first hour how the story turns out. And I will never learn how it turns out because I am not watching another episode of this show.

(I know who did it. I read the time article)
