You know, one of the guys in Honor (see http://brotherhoodofdoom.com/phpBB2/view...php?p=3947) was in the Ant Bully, UFC dude Don Frye. As if anyone would notice. But then so was Julia Roberts, Nic Cage, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Paul Giamatti & Bruce Campbell. It was one of the only times where I couldn't recognize anyone. I think they all just phoned it in, literally, off their cell phones while waiting at stoplights. I recognized Ricardo Montalban, but well, come on, how can you miss Mr. Roarke/Khan? An old friend, Wade Hampton, worked on this as an animator (the guy I was trying to hook up with HK back when he was a Pixar god). I haven't talked to him about it yet. Wade moved away. I'm glad I don't have to bust him on it.
It had a few moments. Inside the frog belly was funny in a gross sort of way. Giamatti's dandruff-&-lice-filled head was really gross. In fact, I shouldn't even bring that up because it gives me the willies just thinking about it. T laughed once or twice. DM might have too, but solely for T's benefit. But that was it. It paled in comparison to A Bug's Life, which was fairly solid Pixar. It paled compared to Antz, which was Woody Allen as a CGI ant. It even paled in comparison to Twilight of the Cockroaches, which was an old anime where Japan still wrestles with the atomic bombs. It's the bottom of the bug cartoons.
