What can I say? It was a free HBO and Cinemax weekend.
I know. I can say I was ashamed.
Curiosity drove me to 'Chasing Mavericks'. It's Gerard Butlet in a surfing movie about the big waves off of Half Moon Bay. I don't know why it is but if a movie shows a place I'm familiar with I have to see it just so I can see places I recognize. In this case, it was the radar installation between Pacifica and HMB. How was the movie? It blew, but the waves were pretty.
I saw Magic Mike on the list, was curious for a second since it did get some buzz when it came out but then passed because it was a movie about male strippers. I didn't see myself in the demographic this film targeted. I was surprised when I came into the room to find the Fiancee had switched it on. Her curiosity was a bit higher than mine. Fortunately, we only watched for about a half hour before her curiosity was killed. From what little I saw, this movie blew as well.
I'm glad for the free preview weekends when they pop up. I did get to see Dark Knight Rises, too. But the selection of films on display only reaffirmed my faith that I don't need to pay for the pay channels, too.
