Today's Rookie Mistake
#1
I'm writing an article and doing a short vid for my overlord. Which is fine. I like doing them.

I made the mistake of showing the rough footage to the subject of the article. Sigh. Hates it. Wants to redo. I spent an hour on the phone talking about better topics for the article.

In my little head, I was done. The vid wasn't great, but it would work. The subject of the article was fine but nothing earth shattering. Sigh. sigh. sigh.

Never talk to the person about what you are writing.

Or tell the subject that you showed the footage to your overlord, who said, "Love it! Don't change a thing!"

were you the only cameraman?

he's got a classic karate/kenpo explanation style. unfortunately none of those techniques would really work as such because no one punches like that. even a rank amateur knows to retract your fist after punching, or at least, deliver a left to follow the right. this is a pretty common oversight with applications. mma has done a lot to eliminate these, thankfully.

none of that reflects on your article however. as an academic treatment, it's still valid. just avoid saying these are effective techniques for anything.

can you send the article along first and not worry about the vid. we won't post the vid until much later anyway.

Or you can tell the guy that that shit only works if you punch like a girl and that the magazine has decided to publish only "manly" martial arts (MMA) so he can go back to his My LIttle Pony Academy of Dance, Glitter, and Sissy-Slaps. Oh, and that came from DM.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I set up two cameras. One of Steve's friends, pushed the button on the second camera for me.

Dharam and I will continue to mine for gold.

You will have my article on something soon, oh Overlord.

Whatever you do, just don't leave your fist hanging out like that when punching Dharam for meddling with your craft. That would be a total rookie mistake.

Sorry, but this sets up a totally irresistible back-handed shotgun compliment.
Step back to avoid shrapnel.

So. This Dharam dude. He certainly demonstrates an impressive aikido background.

And we'll all laugh with you. Not at you. Nope. That would be mean spirited.

Wow, that makes me feel so much better. I really feel the empathy.

(Still trading kicks and punches with Dharam about what to do next)
