KFTC X File
#1
I get a lot of weird mail. We once got a dirty hypodermic needle from an insane asylum in the UK. After that, and on advice of our local PD and Post office, I keep an 'X File' for all this stuff. I need to share this with my DOOM bros.

Today's letter comes from WV. It is six pages, written very precisely on front and back, all the way out to the margins and highlighted in 5 colors for emphasis. It begins with a few curt comments on our Jan Feb 2012 issue, adding notes like "I'm big & strong, so I can throw people about easily. I used to lift my 200# brother overhead with one hand". That takes up the 1st 3rd of page 1. The rest is lists of his DVD collection, meticulously including the year and stars - a collection of 229 films by his own count, separated by country and platform (DVD or VHS). Then there's a list of all the drawings he made for his 'book'. He writes in English (properly, correct spelling) Chinese and Cyrillic. It concludes with a list of Asian actresses. All meticulously hand written in squiggly yet legible printing.

What was the point of the letter? Did he want to get in the mag? Was it just a Thank you note for a great magazine?

Inquiring minds need to know.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

Nutjobs don't have a point.

They are nutjobs.

That's the point.

Wow.
Brings back memories of some of the cover letters I wrote when first sending out stories in my teens and early twenties.
Yeah. I was a nutjob. A total nutjob.
Still, some nutjobs grow out of it. Honest.

These days I only use three colors in my cover letters.
Okay, four, if you count invisible. (Number four is piss, and you have to hold the letter over a flame for it to materialize.)

Nope. Wasn't me.
I do cringe, though, reading about these nutjobs. Though I was never "that" scale of a nutjob, still, there's a "been there, done that" ambiance to them.
Who knows. Maybe I'm suppressing a whole looney-barge's worth of memories.
Nonetheless, this is a great concept, the X File topic. I'm cringingly looking forward to more.
