I had one other goal when going to to Ireland, finding the new Joe Abercrombie at a Waterstones Bookstore. I have succeeded. I have the book in my possession and I will be reading it on the plane!!! I also got a 4 euro break on the price of the book, so it only cost me $200. I think that's what the exchange rate works out to be. It's all kind of fuzzy at this point. I have no idea whether it's good or bad. It's all about acquisition. Remind me to tell you about my counting coup theory of travel.

I liked it. It's Abercrombie and his usual fantasy cynicism. It departs from his first trilogy but some of those characters do turn up perpipherally. It's the story Monza who gets almost killed by Duke Orso and she sets out to get revenge against him and the people that helped him. Lot's of murder and gratuitous violence. Plenty of twists but plenty of things to see coming miles away.
Again, the ending is bleak, but not quite as bleak as the First Law trilogy. You can find the book here at the end of July or in the mail if I send it off to you.
