Went for S4E1 and was promptly rewarded with the return of my fav sword.
Turns out Cobra Kai is on my special site so I can watch it any time and am not beholden to YouTube's red control issues. Hopefully the Mandalorian will show up there eventually, when the time comes.

still wishing the sword fights were better. the choreo seems fixated on stabbing through the base of the skull so the blade comes out the mouth. it always pops straight out, like a tongue, which means it must've punched through the cervical spine, which i'm skeptical about how hard that might actually be to do.

s4e6 crashed. couldn't watch it on that pirate site.
s4e8 had a nice fight. two-handed sword wielded by a giant v spear wielded by an acrobat
s4e9 was the wall siege. a fortress siege is always enjoyable.
hoped to clear s4 before tomorrow night but i was nodding off so it'll just have to wait.

Game of Thrones Live concert experience
This is super cheesy. I gotta stop watching. Too many spoilers.
So it’s a cold night here at shoreline. Not as bone chilling as it can get but winter is coming.
Small crowd - only 8k. The fans are eating it up. It’s a mediocre orchestra comprised of maybe a dozen touring players and two dozen local orchestra and choir as back up. There’s a projection screener showing scenes, some lame pyro, confetti, lackluster lighting effects.
After 3 major spoilers I’m done watching. I’m just staring off into space, checking my phone, snap chatting Tara, trying not to look.
The lead violin did a stunt where she was lifted to the top of stage via wires - 40 ft maybe - with a long gown that draped to the stage (saw Beyoncé do this years ago). She’s way overdramatic about her bowing. And it’s simple music really. But the crowd cheers wildly at some scenes.

I kinda regret going to that because of the spoilers.
One was major, something I never would seen coming. Really bummed about that one because it’s rsther good, the kind of shocker set up that GoT is so good at delivering.
Another was a big battle but I actually guessed the outcome even though I didn’t know when in the series this might occur.
The third was a death and rebirth. The death was surprising but as soon as I saw it, I knew he was coming back because he was on the sdcc panel and there was one way that has been already established on how he could be reborn.
But it was fun to see a few old friends and make a few new ones, and regale some kids with some tales of back in the day. I believe that I have been in RM longer than any of the vols tonight have been alive. One gal asked me how I knew if I didn’t know her age. She is just a year older than Tara. The show supe was the oldest, born the year I started.

S4 down. Not so much of a cliffhanger but more of an opening for S5. A few more key deaths. Now I kinda just wanna get past those spoiled scenes and get on with it.

For the record, S5E2 Arya holds needle improperly with the ring on the finger side of her grip instead of the knuckle side - feckin ruined a good scene for me. Needle remains the sweetest sword in the show.
S5e3 done. Good escape.

S5E6 was brutal but part of it was shot in Royal Alcazar in Sevilla, which was like, hang on - that ain't no House Martell in Dorne - I've totally walked in that garden where a fight scene was staged. Kinda confuzed me for a moment.
I'm embarrassed about how long it took me to recognize Diana Rigg. Jonathan Pryce still looks like ED to me. Finn Jones is as lame here as he was as DareDevil.
S4r8 next...

Dammit. Gawd fecking dammit. So I got through S58&9 and it was getting pretty good. S5 ends with some brutal stuff, major beloved characters getting tortured, raped and killed. Several deux es machinas, and even one drakaris ex machina. The fight choreo is getting better. The whole scope of S5 is improved as the show is clearly going bigger budget as its success continues to grow. The Alcazar scenes are particularly amusing to me because they are so distinctively recognizable. And then, S5e10 crashed. Crashed hard. I might just have to read the summary and move to S6. But that won't be very satisfying because the season is clearly working towards a brutal finale.
Dammit.
well, i gave in and read the synopsis. dammit. that season 5 finale sounds like it rocks.

Got GoT S5E10 to play tonight. That was very satisfying although I now wish I hadn't spoiled it for myself. I think my little pirate site just gets pissed if I watch too many eps. We'll see how far it lets me go tonight.

Emilia Clarke is making the morning show circuit to tout her new movie. I can hear her chatting up Kelly Ripa et.al. as my mom watches in the next room.
I'm really not into this. I like Emilia in GoT - she's such a central heroine even beyond my personal 'white savior' issues (that's not as prevalent anymore, plus she's got dragons) but it also stars Michelle Yeoh so I'm tempted.

Even though that dumb GoT concert thing I worked totally spoiled S6e5, it's still a great scene, a brilliant bit of storytelling that has been one of my favorite plot twists in the whole show. S5&6 is really good, deserving its accolades. S7 is shorter - less eps - and everyone has told me that S8 will be totally disappointing.

S6e7 done - think i'll stop here for the week.
needle has returned and i'm pleased. now if it'll just get stabby, all will be right for GoT.
hbo greenlit the prequel - house of dragons - but it'll be hard to develop good characters, just like with the star wars prequels. we'll see. i'm engaged enough to engage that when it comes around.
Only 17 more eps to go...
