I’d do an IMAX screener but I’m not sure on the status of KFM. The launch is supposed to happen next month but they’re way behind, which leaves me in a weird purgatory over posting stuff. Plus my bandwidth is reduced prepping for the alleged relaunch. It’s been weird but I’m not stressing it. Dont have the bandwidth to stress.

I never read Wuthering Heights but I caught some of the flack over this project and I never knew that they were teenagers (like Romeo & Juliet) and the Heathcliff was implied to be black in the book.

What you talking about, Willis? I read this book for two years as part of my English Leaving Certificate. I never got the sense he was supposed to be black.

He’s described as ‘dark skinned’ with dark hair & eyes, and possibly from China or India apparently. At least that’s what the interwebz say. Mind you, i babe no skin in this game because I’ve never read it nor do I intend to ever read it. But from what I remember from the movie versions I’ve seen, it would be so much cooler if he was black, or at least a POC.

It reminds me of how the biblical description of Christ sounds more black (surely middle eastern - a POC - not the white blue eyed figure we see in the west.

I’m pretty convinced Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings was black. He’s described as tanned (his hobbit clan was explicitly fair skinned) but it’s his subservience to Frodo that feels like an Anglo take on the idealized indentured servant or slave.
