Okay, we've probably all read some best of 2005 lists of albums. But I think a more interesting question is what did albums did you listen to a lot, regardless of release date (also I think a better way to hear about a good album that you didn't know about). So what was it?
For me, top was probably Eno & Budd's The Pearl. I keep coming back to it, year after year. And Lanterna's Sands. I never seem to get tired of either. And many plays for some cuts from the Hank Williams box set Original Singles and More. Some of the stuff in there I had never heard before, and it's great - even better than some of the hits. Early in the year I played the Garden State soundtrack a lot. And this was the year I really started to enjoy New Order's music (I never heard much of it until I got satellite radio), so I was happy to get the Singles collection that Rhino released in December (although I really haven't listened to it much since it came out late in the year).
As for music actually released in 2005, I liked Fischerspooner's Odyssey, and Bloc Party's Silent Alarm, although both had some filler. I'm kind of drawing a blank beyond that.
I'll skip songs on the radio I really liked, or leave that for another thread.
