there wasn't much left in the journals. by 99 (trip #4) i spent most of my time jotting down notes and it's all been published. that's good, since it'll be a lot easier. i'm almost done with trip #1. today is mostly trip #2 & 3. #4 was pretty well documented, so the rest is revision more than creation, which is a sconce simpler. i have about 9 hours left of solitude. i don't know when i'll get a break like this again - probably never. frankly, i don't have the vacation hours banked and i prefer to spend those on vacations with my family. that'll be tomorrow. so i'll pick up the rest in the corners, but i'll be as set for that as i can be by this evening. that's just the way it'll have to go.
dammit, did i just work all day on new years? that sets a poor precedent for '09, especially given the state of the martial economy.
it's been a fascinating experiment. i got off to a slow start, and nye was pretty disruptive, but also provided a good break. i thought i was going to need that mentally, but it was more physical. my body is the weak link. this keyboard is hard on the right hand, especially for editing/revising, since that's mostly cursor work. plus it has a double mouse. i usually mouse with my left to ward off rsi issues, but the right mouse is clear with a red l.e.d. so it catches my attention and gets used accidentally more. my back is torn up. i compensate for my chronic pain by taking it right between my scapula. there's a knot the size of a grapefruit there now.
thanks for the support, bros. i can totally feel the luv.
