I stand by this.
It was fun to see it again with my iai classmates. The owner of the dvd knew it well and he and I chatted about the deeper levels of the film, how well Kurosawa set up foreshadowing with the layout of the town, how beautifully lit Mifune’s good eye was after being beat, how Lucas poached the lopped off hand motif from Kurosawa. Such an epic film.
A must see for all D00Mers, although I imagine we’ve all seen it by now
