Seen.
The final arc is about Drum island and introduces Chopper, a much beloved character. E7 is devoted to his backstory. Took me until the end to recognize Peg from Married with Children. She was familiar but I just couldn’t place it until the end.
The more I think about Oda dedicating his life to this at age 4, the more it makes sense. It’s such a young boy’s fantasy and everything is cartoonish. It works due to its purity. It’s so authentically childlike and that feels nostalgic.its absurd like a prepubescent playtime of make believe.
I wonder where we are in the 1100+ anime series. I peeped at a few of those and it seemed very much the same, only much slower. This show can go on forever.
It’s not the greatest thing but it’s diverting from the woes of the world, and that’s all I want from a show like this.
I’ll tune into the next season.
