I saw on FB a post about an upcoming tour of the old air base facility on top of Mt Umunhum. It's part of the Sierra Azul open space preserve now. The radar tower building is sealed off, but it's still very fascinating. I took the cycle which was good because the small parking lot was full. There were about 90 people there for the tour... I missed the first 10min, but it was very interesting and the views from there are amazing! Looking south, I could see Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz. looking North, I could see Salesforce Tower in SF.
The road was in surprising good condition. Smells like oak and bay laurel...recommended!
