I've had 13 responses on Mandy (A film crew hiring site) to my job listing for a composer. It's been gratifying and puzzling. Some of the respondents are award winners
At this point, I've been deep in the Iron Crotch cave by myself. No one knows but me what I'm up to. And I'm not really clear. I showed a twenty minute cut of the film to everyone figuring I would get a lot of thanks, but no thanks from the composers once they saw what they were up against.
But, no. All the respondents have been really positive about what they saw. One guy said even if I don't hire him, he feels it's a film that has to be made. Another already scored seven minutes of the film and sent it back to me. He did that in less than 24 hours. Of course, the cynic side constantly asks do these poor bastards really need this not adequate recompense?
I'll do interviews with a couple of them and hire one of them on Friday.
