Wonka (2023)

Chalamet comes to town to sell his chocolates that he has spent the last eight years perfecting. But the chocolate monopoly wants nothing to do with him. Wonka gets tricked into signing a contract that forces him into servitude. He has to pay off Olivia Colman before he can go make chocolates. But with the help of a fellow inmate, he figures out a way to get back to making chocolate and money. There are ups and downs but eventually he prevails.

They made some weird choices in this backstory story. Wonka can't read? The Oompa Loompa's are chasing him for stealing their chocolate beans? Slugworth does own a chocolate shop?

The story never really engaged me although they tried very hard. It's not bad. It just left me feeling meh.

Ditto. Some funny bits. Chocoholic monks, Mr. Bean, Hugh Grant as the ascerbic oompa loopa…I enjoyed the underground lair, but was hoping for a fight scene with the lady of the key.

You didn’t mention that yeti sweat is an important plot point.

The songs weren’t memorable. Really, nothing was memorable.
