I confess, I've only watched about thirty minutes but what a strange amalgamation is this film. Yes, it's all the characters from the Archies comic. But Riverdale is in India and all the characters are of Indian descent. The film takes place in the sixties so all the musical numbers have the feel of sixties songs. There are big bollywood dance numbers but the music feels like it came out of Jersey Boys. And they keep flipping back and forth between English and Hindu, some times even in the same phrase.
The bit of the plot is evil developers want to build a hotel right in the sacred park in the middle of town. An unscrupulous member of the town council works to see this happen.
I will catch more of this as time allows.
