Lunar Eclipse, Wed 2/20

Dear Skywatchers,


There will be a total eclipse of the moon on
Wed , Feb. 20. Don't miss it because
the next total lunar eclipse in the US isn't until
2010! If you have kids, this one is visible
from the US before their bedtime.


The entire eclipse is visible from most of the US.
On the west coast, the eclipse will already be
in progress when the moon rises soon after sunset.
Sunset that night is at 5:43 PST and the Moon rises at 5:21 PST.


The total phase of the eclipse will be from
7:00 to 7:52 p.m Pacific Standard Time.
The end of the partial phase (when the shadow
will not be as dark) is 9:09 PST.


This one will be particularly pretty because the Moon
will be in between the bright star Regulus and the planet
Saturn!
