I read a lit of Chuck de Lint way back in the day and enjoyed his work, as I recall. Early Urban Fantasy, I think.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
