It starts off with a demonstration about missing indigenous women in Canada and why haven't the police done anything about it? It then switches gear to a truly horrible women who ends up getting murdered. At the center of both stories is Alfred Molina as Inspector Gamache. As punishment for interfering in the demonstration, Gamache is sent to the hinterlands of Canada to the titular town of Three Pines to work on the mystery of the dead woman. Fortunately the dissappearance of the indigenous woman is close to Three Pines.
So far it's a solid police procedural. Molina is good as the savvy but empathetic police inspector know for saving people. He is surrounded by a trio of fun police officers. And the town members are all sketchy. You can tell this is a Canadian Story because there is a curling match at the center of it.
I'm going to say watch this if you need a police procedural in your life.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
