There was a piece in the New Yorker about this late last year with a little more detail. And it's short. And kind of funny.
Christina and I saw him at Frost Amphitheater in the early 90s, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. And it might have been the only concert I've ever been to that started right on time. Soon after that he cancelled all his touring because of his illness. I was stunned by "Sunday Morning Coming Down." The music is very straightforward, but so great. Cash once said they played that way because they were so bad at it when they started. As Fred Rogers said, simple and deep is better than shallow and complicated.
