It's a body switching movie! It's a slasher film! It's both. And it was kind of okay. Knowing that it's a body switching movie, I spent a lot of the first act just waiting for the switch to occur and to see how they accomplished it. They could have a red light and sign over the prop that said "Body Switching Device" But I rolled with it. It was a slasher film with Vince Vaughn as the slasher. It had all the usual tropes of slasher films. The unusual methods of deaths. The preying on randy teenagers. The mysterious appearances. It felt like a putting on a comfortable pair of pants to see these cliches rolled out.
The high concept of the film was having Vince Vaughn channel his inner teenage girl during the scenes where the souls are switched. And Millie (the teenage girl) going from meek and mild to this killer was also quite good. The best being she was used to being big and strong and now she wasn't but still trying to do the big and strong things to kill people.
The film was very predictable but there were a few good moments. It was diverting. The only pain in the ass was that it was on HBO Max and HBO Max's servers were getting crushed as people watched The Suicide Squad. The film kept crashing about every ten minutes.
