Finished V4. That was a bit of alright. Frank Quitely's art is magnificent. Storywise it's highly derivative of The Watchmen, but after consulting with my comic sifu and former senior graphic artist Patrick, the explosion of the superhero trope is commonplace in the wake of that gamechanger. I'm thinking it's Netflix's play to have a good comic show, now that it's Marvel shows are done. What can this might add over The Watchmen and The Boys is a psychedelic aspect. Some of the superheroes have this power to control the minds of others by sending them into hallucinations. It distracts them while their being beat up in the real world. It plays out well in the comic - if that can be translated into the series, I'm all in.
One cool aspect is that even those this is an alternate reality, there are funny cameos of historic celebs like Kate Hepburn, Reagan, etc.
It's written by Mark Millar, who gave us Kick Ass, Kingsman, Civil War, Logan, and many others.
So I think this does have potential. But we shall see.
