I seldom read for ‘fun’ anymore. That sounds sad but writing is my trade. I read for work - must keep up with the new research and such. Even when I read for ‘fun’ I’m constantly looking for style to poach.
Before the Dog Encyclopedia, I read Willie ‘the Bam’s’ The Complete Martial Artist. It was terrible - a self absorbed life story that meandered between random episodes in his life to preachy crap about faith. I like the guy but he can’t write. When he heard I was working for YMAA (who republished this book - I read it for some marketing copy) he sent me another book that he’s working ohoping I’d give him an endorsements quote. Awkward. I didn’t list this here because that was December.
